Job Description

Manages the acquisition, installation, and start-up of new capital equipment to support manufacturing, product development, and process improvement.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Participates in the creation and improvement of the Capital Equipment Acquisition (CEA) Process.
• Manages assigned capital equipment projects using the CEA Process.
• Accountable to engineering manager and operations management.
• Responsibilities include:
• Applying the CEA Process to all major capital projects assigned.
• All project deliverables as required by the CEA Process for all assigned capital projects.
• Executing capital projects such that Client’s Drives profitability is maximized.
• Achieving capital equipment cost and schedule commitments, production through-put targets, and product/process quality requirements.
• Collaborates with production management, maintenance, quality, product engineering, tooling engineering, finance, product development, purchasing, process engineering, and other functions as needed.
• Works with outside engineering companies, machine builders, and equipment vendors to specify new manufacturing equipment
• Utilizes project management practices to deliver on time, on budget projects that meet the capital budget targets for the business.
• Supports product development projects, as assigned, as a member of the product development team.
• Accountable to NPD project manager and plant manager.
• Additional responsibilities include:
• Estimating the impact of various product design and production process alternatives: capital equipment and tooling costs, production throughput estimates, machine time and production labor estimates, and capital equipment acquisition schedule estimates during the initial phases of the NPD project.
• Providing input about the manufacturability of new product design alternatives.
• Participates in project team meetings and otherwise supports the product development project.
• Supports operations management with acquisition of new/additional production capacity.
• Estimating capital equipment and tooling costs, production throughput estimates, machine time and production labor estimates, and capital equipment acquisition schedule estimates.
• Identifying opportunities for capacity improvement.
• Promote Client’s Precision Polymers Values and Behaviors at all times

Environmental, Health & Safety Accountabilities:
• Learn and follow EHS policies, rules and work instructions
• Attend required EHS training
• Wear the required PPE at all times
• Take personal responsibility for keeping yourself and your co-workers and visitors free from injury by participating in and/or conducting risk assessments, work place inspections, corrective actions and safety observations
• Report incidents, near miss, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and other hazards in the work place. STOP WORK when imminent danger is present
• Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keep equipment in proper working condition.
Education and/or Relative Experience:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Must have experience managing capital acquisition projects, including projects involving custom-engineered manufacturing equipment.
• Must have excellent communication skills and be detail oriented.
• Project management training or certification preferred.
• Six-Sigma belt preferred.
