Three Post-COVID AiTech Career Opportunities

Three Post-COVID AiTech Career Opportunities

Careers opportunities in engineering are expected to be in abundance during the post-COVID era. While many engineering careers have been idle during this time, at AiTech, we are confident things will return to normal, sooner, rather than later. To help AiTech candidates prepare for their bright future, we cover three branches of engineering that look especially promising.

Green Opportunities

One, and probably the only, winner of COVID-19 was the environment. Global emissions saw an unprecedented 17% drop as people all over the globe hunkered down, worked from home, and moved social gatherings to social networks. In an attempt to build on this momentum, we anticipate substantial growth in eco-friendly and sustainable engineering initiatives. We expect to see new jobs and AiTech career opportunities created in key industrial sectors in pursuit of this ecological transition. Solar Photovoltaic Installers, Wind Turbine Service Technicians, and Environmental Engineers are just a few examples of roles that will be in higher demand. For example, the demand for solar energy will increase substantially, lowering costs for solar panels while increasing the demand for Solar Photovoltaic Installers. To begin a career in Energy Engineering you must obtain a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. To further enhance your career perspective you can obtain a Master’s in Energy Engineering.

Civil Engineering

Over the last two years, AiTech has seen a large increase in demand for all aspects of Civil Engineering. Civil Engineering deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways. There are also many different subcategories such as structural engineering, environmental engineering, road/highway engineering, and transportation engineering. The COVID crisis has drastically slowed down projects during the first half of 2020, but there is great optimism that project demand will boom in the latter part of 2020. Many large projects have already been planned, but have simply been postponed due to COVID. At AiTech, we believe Civil Engineers will be highly sought-after in late 2020 due to an increase in government spending.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacturing of electrical equipment, such as electric motors, radar and navigation systems, communications systems, and power generation equipment. Electrical engineers work on a wide range of components, devices, and systems, from tiny microchips to huge power station generators. There may not be a huge growth in demand, but the requirements are a necessity for most industries. Electrical Engineers can continuously improve their careers by always being on the lookout for new opportunities.

Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineering, also referred to as BioMed or BME, is a multidisciplinary STEM field that combines biology and engineering. The goal is to combine engineering principles and materials with medicine and healthcare. This field is growing fast and is heavily supported by Venture Capital funding. Artificial organs, surgical robots, and advanced prosthetics are just a few examples of what comes out of this industry. AiTech is in constant contact with this specific industry since the demand is on a steady growth path.
